PHOENIX, Arizona (August 11, 2006) – Gateway Community College announced today fall enrollment is still open in the Court Reporting/Closed Captioning and Medical Transcription programs. Both programs allow for flexible work schedules, high wage potential and the ability to work from home, making them popular career choices for stay-at-home parents, or anyone seeking a career change or wanting a new flexible career.

The demand for qualified individuals within the medical transcription field is increasing not only nationally, but here in Phoenix. With the population influx, healthcare facilities are in need of medical transcription workers – individuals who transcribe doctors and other healthcare professional’s recordings into medical records.

In the closed captioning field, the passage of federal legislation requiring all television programming to include captioning by the year 2006 has created a huge industry demand for graduates.

Once trained in court reporting/captioning, individuals can work in court or from home at their own pace, creating time to pursue other interests or work full time. Work in medical transcription can be done from any location, freeing individuals to move, travel and work as much or as little as they like. Salary in both industries varies greatly depending on workload and experience but can range from the $30,000’s to as high as $80,000 annually.
