GATEWAY COMMUNITY COLLEGE TO HOST FREE CAREER EXPLORATION WORKSHOP

PHOENIX, Arizona ( May 10, 2006) – Gateway Community College will host a free career exploration workshop showcasing the Hydrology and Water Technology, Manufacturing, and Air Conditioning, Refrigeration & Facilities programs on Wednesday, June 7 from 6 to 8 p.m.

The event will provide recent high school graduates or anyone looking to pursue a new career or upgrade job skills a chance to participate in a hands-on program demonstration/workshop on GateWay’s campus at 40th and Washington streets in Phoenix.

Light snacks will be offered, as instructors and students give insight to each of the programs and then demonstrate what a typical class session covers, as well as what it is like to work in the industry. The event will offer a chance for prospective students to meet with an advisor to enroll or talk about financial aid. Scholarships are available – up to $1500 – about the cost of a year of tuition.

The programs of study featured in the workshop are all hands-on programs varying in length from one to two years, and upon graduation, many graduates are hired to work for companies such as Intel, US Geological Survey, Arizona Department of Economic Quality, City of Tempe, City of Glendale and many others..

The event is free and open to the public, but an RSVP is required. Call Nadine Johnson at 602-286-8613 or email to johnsonn@gatewaycc.edu.
