CELEBRATING CARNEVALE AT GATEWAY & SOUTH MOUNTAIN COMMUNITY COLLEGES
PHOENIX, Arizona – February 17, 2006 – GateWay Community College today announced that GateWay and South Mountain Community College’s Children’s Day Care Centers, as well as neighboring elementary schools, will celebrate Carnevale, the traditional Italian version of Mardi Gras, on Tuesday, February 28, 2006 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. concurrently on both college campuses.

What:
The event, with more than 300 elementary school children at each campus, will include:
- Mask making
- Face painting
- Clowns
- Music/Entertainment
- Food and snacks
The celebration is a community youth event and is part of the Alba Italian Language program, a grant-funded program made possible through the Resource Center Italiano and generous support from Mrs. Amelia Viola Gallucci-Cirio. The program was created to develop language skills and increase awareness and appreciation of Italian and other cultures among preschool and elementary school children and their parents, high school and college students and area residents.
