GOVERNOR JANET NAPOLITANO TO VISIT GATEWAY COMMUNITY COLLEGE

PHOENIX, Arizona – January 24, 2006 – GateWay Community College today announced Governor Janet Napolitano will visit the campus to tour the Children’s Learning Center on Thursday, January 26 at 9 a.m.

The purpose of the Governor’s visit is to tour the facility and become aware of what community colleges offer for child care as a tool to help students achieve a higher education. The primary focus of the visit is to learn about and participate in a special grant-funded Italian language and culture program taught to the children in the center. The program, Alba, was made possible by a generous contribution from Mrs. Amelia Viola Gallucci Cirio, a local philanthropist and lifelong supporter of education and culture.

During the visit, the children will learn a lesson on colors in Italian, sing Happy Birthday in Italian and present the Governor with Alba program books and toys.
